Field Maintenance

Coaches are responsible for maintaining the fields. We're all asked to prepare the fields before and after games. Take the time to make sure this is done right to keep Trombino Field the best field in all of RI!

A few reminders from the Maintenance Crew:

1. Home Plate — The first thing most young batters do when they step into the box is to dig a hole.  Rake the dirt towards both batters' boxes as well as the catchers' box and pack them down after each game... especially the last game of the day.

2. All Bases — All that sliding into the bases  creates holes. Please rake back the dirt  into the holes after each game / practice.

3. Base Paths — DO NOT RAKE the dirt from the outside of the field to the inside, instead rake from home to first and from third to home. This will help eliminate any "lips" and keep those foul ball bounces down.

4. INFIELD - When raking the infield keep about six inches away from the infield and outfield grass to keep  the "lips" from forming.

5. Pitcher's Mound — Please fill in the holes in front of rubber and in the landing area.

The dug-outs are part of the field and should be maintained as well. Please make the players responsible for their own messes. Make sure that the trash cans are emptied as well.

Lining The Field

The home team is responsible for the base paths and batter's box to be chalked before the game.

A few reminders from the Maintenance Crew:

1. Lining Eqiupment — Please make sure that all the equipment is put back neatly into the fields shed.

Check out the video HERE for proper field lining.
